Move your course off GitHub Classroom before it disappears.

GitHub Classroom closes to new sign-ups now, the site shuts down on August 28, 2026, and all data is permanently deleted on September 4, 2026. Your student repos already live in your GitHub org and are not affected. Only the classroom.github.com metadata goes away.

  1. Export your classroom. Run the official Classroom Export Utility to download a zip of your assignments and roster. Do this before August 28; the export tool stops working when the site does.
  2. Import it here. Upload the export zip and we draft your cohorts, assignments, and roster. Nothing is written until you confirm the preview.
  3. Share the invite link. Each imported cohort gets one. Students click it, sign in with GitHub, and claim their roster spot. Their repos follow them as-is.

What comes over

Cohort names, assignment titles and deadlines, group structure, and the roster of GitHub usernames. What stays behind: historical grades from a different autograder (they would not make sense in ours) and repo contents (they are already yours on GitHub).
